Abstract:

Among 2357 prenant women at Tehran Valiasr hospital, 99 women under 18 years with their 102 neonates were evaluated retrospectively during Aprill 1999 to April 2000. frequency of adolescent PREGNANCY was detected in 41.5 per 1000 live birth 7 (7.1%) of mothers had preeclampisa, 7 thyroidal diseases, 3 valvular heart diseases, 2 urinary tract infections and 20.3% of women had prolonged rupture of membrane (more than 24 hrs). the route of delivery in 21.2% of women was cesarean section. 32% of neonates were low birth weight and the gestational age in 38.2% of neonates was lower than 37 weeks. Intrauterine growth retardiation was detected in 11.8% of patients 38.2% of babies were admitted into neonatal care unit. Perinatal resuscitation and ventilator care were needed in 9.8% and 3.9% of neonates respectively. Nonatal mortality occurred in 6.9% of patients. Compared with total deliveries the frequency of variables was higher than could be expected except for cesarean section. Our adolescent PREGNANCY rate is lower than worldwide range but rates for prematurity and low birth weight are the same as other reports from developed and developing countries. Frequency of cesarean section was lower than expected range in this group as in developed countries. With respect to higher rates for rheumatic heart disease, premature labor, prolonged rupture o membrane and low birth weight, it seems that lower socioeconomic factors may result in these adverse outcomes.Higher neonatal ICU admissions, artificial ventilation and resuscitation in adolescent pregnancies suggest that confinement in hospitals with level III nurseries is advisable in these high risk group

Abstract:

Background: The study focused on analysing the mental health such as emotional, social and psychological well-beings of the TEENAGE girls towards the PREGNANCY and investigate the various factors such as sexual relationship associated with TEENAGE PREGNANCY. Methods: The study took a cross-sectional approach and adopted convenient sampling method for data collection. Data was collected from TEENAGE girls aged 12 to 21 years from the state of Sabah. Data collection accomplished through survey data assessment, with survey responses data being collected through structured questionnaire as the effective research tool. The collected data is then statistically analysed for regression, ANOVA, one-way ANOVA and correlation analysis. Results: Exploratory data analysis about the participants were explicated using frequency analysis. The statistical Test outcomes delineated the occurrence of significant relationship between engagements in sexual relationship with the age, marital status, distance of education, school attitude, self-esteem, self-efficacy, perceived social support, Peer community influences, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), coping ability variables and other predictor variables. Similarly One-Way anova test, reveals the existence of statistical significant mean differences among age attribute of TEENAGE girls, their engagement in sexual activity, predictor variables and their demographic details. Conclusions: The life of the TEENAGErs who are engaged in sexual activity were observed to be more challenging in terms of medically, psychologically, and physically. The present study strongly recommends that social activists would adopt possible measures in revealing a better solution towards the TEENAGE PREGNANCY.

Abstract:

Introduction: PREGNANCY at a young age is considered high-risk, and the prevalence of TEENAGE PREGNANCY has been reported to be on the rise. The present study aimed to evaluate the PREGNANCY outcomes in primigravid adolescents. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Ghaem Hospital in Mashhad, Iran during July 2012-2013. Sample population consisted of primigravid women aged 12-19 and 20-35 years at delivery. In total, 100 primigravid adolescents and 200 primigravid adults aged 20-35 years were enrolled in the study. A researcher-made questionnaire including the demographic characteristics, gestational age, and other variables (medical history, medical condition of the subjects at the current PREGNANCY, and neonatal status) was completed by the researcher for the subjects. Data analysis was performed in SPSS version 14 using Chi-square, Fisher’s exact test, and Mann-Whitney U test, and P-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Mean gestational age in the adolescents and adults was 38.35±3.15 and 37.2±3.08 weeks, respectively (P<0.05). No significant differences were observed between the groups in terms of the PREGNANCY outcomes (P>0.05), and only preeclampsia was significantly more prevalent in the adults compared to the adolescents (P<0.05). Neonatal outcomes (birth weight and Apgar scores) were significantly better in the adolescent mothers compared to the adults (P<0.05), while no significant differences were observed in terms of congenital anomalies, intrauterine death, and neonatal mortality (P>0.05). In addition, no significant differences were observed between the groups regarding intended/unwanted pregnancies and smoking habits (P>0.05).Conclusion: Considering the favorable perinatal outcomes of TEENAGE pregnancies, recommendations for early PREGNANCY may be rational, even in adolescent mothers.

Abstract:

The United Kingdom has one of the highest TEENAGE birth rates among countries in western Europe. Government initiatives such as the TEENAGE PREGNANCY Strategy introduced by the labor government in 1999 to reduce the TEENAGE PREGNANCY rate by half in ten years could be responsible for the steady decline in TEENAGE conception and childbirth for the past two decades. However, to sustain this decrease it is crucial to consider the broader socioeconomic and environmental determinants of TEENAGE PREGNANCY at the population level. A selected literature search was conducted in this respect to highlight the factors that could be neglected by recent interventions on TEENAGE PREGNANCY and childbirth in the United Kingdom.

Objectives: TEENAGE PREGNANCY has generated much interest in Obstetrics practice due to increasing risk to the baby and the mother. In this regard, this study was done to ascertain its incidence, obstetric risk, and outcomes. Materials and Methods: This study reviewed the obstetric data sheets of all TEENAGE pregnancies managed between January 2013 and December 2017 at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, North-Central, Nigeria. Results: TEENAGE deliveries included 43 cases constituting 2. 06% of the total 2084 deliveries within the period. The mean age (SD) was 17. 88 (±, 1. 77) years. The commonest antenatal complications were malaria (39. 5%), anaemia (37. 2%), and hypertension in PREGNANCY (20. 9%). The augmentation of labour was done for 16 parturient mothers (37. 2%) and 16. 3% had the induction of labour. The caesarean section rate was 16. 3% and it was mostly related to obstructed labour (47. 1%). In addition, episiotomy was done in 11. 6% of parturient mothers and 46. 5% had perineal tear. There were 37 live births out of which, 6 cases were neonatal admissions and 6 other cases were perinatal deaths. Finally, the perinatal mortality rate among the TEENAGE deliveries was 139. 5 per 1000. Conclusions: The incidence of TEENAGE births was 2. 06% with associated obstetric risks and adverse PREGNANCY outcomes necessitating improved obstetric care during PREGNANCY and delivery.

Abstract:

Background & aim: TEENAGE PREGNANCY remains a significant epidemiological and social health problem in Haiti. Its prevention and the improvement of the lived experience of pregnant TEENAGErs appear to be imperative in light of its consequences. This article aimed to identify the traditional, community, and clinical practice recommendations that emerge from the participants' discourse to promote the implementation of strategies that can contribute to the prevention and improvement of the lived experience of TEENAGE PREGNANCY in the Haitian context. Methods: A qualitative research design developed from Dewey's social inquiry was used. Data were collected from October 2020 to January 2021 in the North and North-East departments of Haiti from 69 participants, including 33 pregnant TEENAGErs, 15 health professionals, 17 relatives of TEENAGErs (partners, guardians, and sisters), and four agency leaders. Thematic analyses were conducted as part of this qualitative study. Results: This study revealed recommendations to prevent TEENAGE PREGNANCY in the Haitian context, to improve the transition from TEENAGE PREGNANCY to motherhood, and to improve the living conditions of TEENAGE mothers and their children. These intervention strategies are categorized into health system, community, family, adolescent, and state policy. Conclusion: The results of this study show that the fight against TEENAGE PREGNANCY should be a collective responsibility and concern. The engagement of every member of the community is imperative in the quest for a sustainable solution to the problem and for healthy lives.
